About us
Aurora Science Hub is a small independent team. We turn space weather data into clear forecasts for aurora hunters and researchers, and publish open scientific libraries.
Team
Alexander Nikolaev
Founder, geophysicist and developer
The project began with his idea. Alexander leads the physics and the scientific models, the product priorities, promotion, and writes code. He holds a PhD in physics and mathematics from Saint Petersburg State University, spent 14+ years studying the magnetosphere and ionosphere, headed the Ionospheric Research Laboratory at AARI and has published 20+ scientific papers; he worked on models of the high-latitude ionosphere and auroras.
Aleksei Ermilov
Co-founder, software architect and developer
Aleksei designed the whole SWeather architecture, from the space weather data processing modules to the Telegram bot, and develops the project together with Alexander. He builds features and keeps the code quality high. A Saint Petersburg State University graduate in applied mathematics, he has 15+ years of .NET development behind him: high-load systems, leading a 30-person engineering team, mentoring dozens of developers and writing articles about .NET.
